Personal ‘a’
Whenever a person is the OBJECT of a VERB, the
personal ‘a’ must be used after the verb and before
the person that is the object.
Por ejemplo: No veo a la auxiliar de vuelo.
Ellos conocen a la profesora de ciencias.
In general, the verb TENER does not take the personal ‘a’

Direct Object Pronouns (DOP’s)
are used to replace nouns!
The DOP receives the ACTION of the verb!

It (singular/masc) = lo
Ya’ll (masculine) = los
Them (masculine) = los
Example: los pantalones

The DOP is placed BEFORE the conjugated
verb!!
Example:
Quiero la camisa azul.
La tienda vende los
pantalones azules.

When there is a conjugated verb +
infinitive, the DOP can be placed BEFORE
the conjugated verb OR can be ATTACHED
to the infinitive!
Quiero llevar los pantalones.
Los quiero llevar.
OR
Quiero llevarlos.

1) Ella quiere facturar el equipaje. =
Ella quiere facturarlo. OR Lo quiere facturar.
2) Ellos van a hacer la maleta. =
Ellos van a hacerla. OR Ellos la van a hacer.
3) Quiero comprar el boleto ahora. =
Quiero comprarlo ahora. OR Lo quiero comprar ahora.

Indirect Object Pronouns (IOPs) take the
place of these Indirect object NOUNS!

The IOP must accompany the noun it
modifies or replace the noun.
Por ejemplo:
Mom gives José & Ana the money.
Mamá les da el dinero a José y Ana.

REMEMBER IOPs go before the conjugated verb or are attached
to the infinitive!!

2. Nosotros damos la tarjeta de embarque a la agente.
Nosotros le damos la tarjeta de embarque.
3. La agente confirma el vuelo para mí.
La agente me confirma el vuelo.
