The following verbs are found in this chapter…and
a few extra ones that you already know as they are
very common and useful. Clip art is added where
needed. They are a “family” of verbs. They are a
“family of regular present tense verbs”. That
means that the conjugations are predictable. They
all do the same thing. Drop the AR, ER or IR of the
infinitive, and add the ending that you need for
your subject.
A. –AR verbs

First, remember the present tense indicative conjugation of
SER. SER is an irregular verb, that is to say SER does not
follow any given pattern, and it has to be memorized.

Third, CONOCER is a “vowel CER verb”. This is another
“family of verbs”. In this family, the first person singular (yo)
of the present tense indicative will end in ZCO. All of these
verbs do this, therefore, another “family of verbs”.

Lastly, verb conjugations, along with the vocabulary that you
have learned and will learn, are the basis of the Spanish II year.
These 2 components of the language will enable you to be
successful in doing all of your assignments this year.
Understanding the verb tense conjugations and vocabulary
will be essential for success at the Spanish III level as this will
be your foundation for Spanish III and beyond.
